Special Person

We often become our own worst enemy without realizing it. When we struggle to get along with others, or when we are generally disliked or mistrusted, it's important to take a hard look at ourselves.

Most of us have that one person in our life who we share all our secrets with. This person helps us see the bright side of problems, and can even make the sun shine on rainy days. They share in our small triumphs and are a source of inspiration. This person is an encourager, a listener, and someone who truly cares.

We all have someone like this in our lives - a mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, lover, or friend. Whoever they are, we should strive to keep them happy, as they are the best people we have. They help us make the best decisions in our life, and often steer us away from the wrong path. We often take them for granted and don't realize the extent of their influence on us.
However, when we start hiding our secrets or feelings from this special person, it's a sign that we are going down the wrong path. Avoiding them will not make the guilt disappear. Instead, it will eat away at our conscience. It's at this point that we need to take a step back and acknowledge our mistakes. While mistakes can be a valuable learning experience, some mistakes can be life-altering and irreversible. And in the process, we may lose the special person in our life.

Here is a story of Ramanand and his special person. Ramanand was a tall man with a French beard and medium looks, who was waiting at the bus stop on a sunny day. His heart was pounding as he anxiously checked the time on his watch, counting down the minutes until he would see the woman who had filled such a special place in his life for the past 15 years- his wife. He was meeting her after 6 months of her leaving their home, but he was unsure of why she had left.

Ramanand believed in living in the present and enjoying life, often saying "If we keep thinking of our future, we cannot enjoy our present." He was hardworking, caring and affectionate, and was married to Kalpana, the daughter of a retired bank employee. They loved each other and had two children, Kshitiz and Arohi. They had their share of problems like all families, but they worked hard to make their family a happy one.

One day, Ramanand came home and excitedly called out for Kalpana, telling her that they had won a lottery of Rs. 50000/-. She was overjoyed and suggested they deposit the money in their savings account. Ramanand, however, wanted to buy something with the money, and suggested buying new clothes for the children, a cycle for Kshitiz, and Barbie dolls for Arohi. Kalpana was concerned as they did not have much savings and the money should be saved, but she couldn't deny the happiness on Arohi's face.

That night, Kalpana tried to talk to Ramanand about their financial limitations, but he had already fallen asleep. The next day, Kshitiz showed Ramanand an advertisement for a house he wanted, and Ramanand impulsively promised to buy it for him. Kalpana was upset and reminded him of their financial limitations, but Ramanand was determined to make good on his promise and applied for a loan by pledging their garage. He got the loan and came home to show Kalpana the keys to the new house, saying "When I say it, I do it."

Ramanand and Kalpana's story takes a turn as the financial burden of the new house causes strain on their relationship and Kalpana ultimately leaves with their children. Ramanand is left to reflect on the mistakes he made and the trust he lost with his wife. Eventually, he decides to sell the house and reunite with his family in their old, smaller but happier home.

The clock ticked closer to 5 p.m. as the final moments counted down. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Ramanand's children shouted excitedly, "Daddy, Daddy!" as his wife stood behind them. Although he felt a sense of relief, he couldn't help but feel anxious about facing his wife. But as Kalpana's face lit up with a smile and she said, "let's go home," his fears dissipated.
